The rooster woke me up in the mornings when I visited my grandparents, its crowing echoing through the crisp, fresh air of the countryside. My personal alarm clock, a vibrant symbol of rural life, far more beautiful and enchanting than the mechanical one I had in my room back home. This rooster, with its striking plumage and lively demeanor, served not only as a wake-up call but also as a reminder of the simple joys of life. Its crowing seemed to resonate with the rhythm of nature, marking the start of a new day filled with possibilities. I often wondered if this rooster was an alarm for other things as well, perhaps signaling the arrival of warmth, good fortune, or even our well-being? In my imagination, I placed him on a gigantic blueberry, a fruit that represented health and vitality, as if to elevate his significance in my morning routine.
In Norway, something that is “just blueberries” is often considered small stuff, a phrase that conveys the idea of trivial matters, either not much to worry about or something that is easy to acquire. However, I wanted to give the healthy blueberry a more significant task, transforming it from a mere fruit into a symbol of nourishment and abundance. In my mind, this blueberry was not just a simple berry; it was a treasure trove of health benefits, bursting with antioxidants and vitamins, capable of enhancing our well-being in profound ways. I envisioned the rooster standing proudly atop this gigantic blueberry, a guardian of health and happiness, reminding us that even the simplest things in life can hold great importance if we choose to see them that way. This imagery filled my thoughts with warmth and nostalgia, intertwining the essence of my childhood memories with the deeper meanings of life and nature. @SaatchiArt
