Politics

In the world of politics, everything feels like a grand chess game where the common folk, yes, you and me, are merely the pawns. Picture this: politicians on both sides (or are they just sides of the same coin?) making strategic moves while we, the humble pawns, are left looking for breadcrumbs of logic in their decisions. In light of the current political circus, I find myself dusting off my 2013 painting, "Politics," and putting it back on display.

Ah, the unexpected resurgence of its relevance! You might think the Epstein case revelations were shocking, but oh boy, here we pawns go again. I've used chess pieces as a metaphor in my artwork because that’s precisely how politics feels: a game where we are moved around at the whims of those in power. And what's with those bishops and knights, always exchanging places like they're swapping secrets over a cup of coffee? Perhaps that's precisely how our jovial political rivals see themselves: neutral in trade, all the while simplifying their positions and causing chaos in our everyday lives with their decisions.

But fear not, fellow pawns, for we bring a little humor into the political tableau with a clown nose! Yes, the clown nose is where the magic happens. It's how we, the people, feel in this charade, as silent actors in a play we know nothing about. The politicians might have the moves, but we have the jokes! So, here's to laughing in the face of politics, to keep from crying, and remembering we have the power to turn the game around—one small, meaningful move at a time.

Did anyone say "checkmate"? Too soon?
